Adani House, Ahmedabad

Despite being set a mere three metres away from a busy road in Ahmedabad, this corporate office is designed to achieve a gradual, soothing transition up a wide flight of stairs into the reception, an atrium-court.

Offices on the different floors overlook the reception. On the uppermost floor, a sky bridge which connects the directors offices, introduces another dimension in the atrium.

The independent façade of the rear block, which backdrops the atrium-court, is the surprise element here and arouses the interest of visitors. Behind a motive wall, an independent flight of steps that leads on to the first floor of this block is particularly interesting. At every floor, a forecourt introduces each wing, and provides a meeting place for visitors and staff.

These courts at various levels and at the reception together form a system of interactive open spaces at the core of the building. Sky-lit by the atrium, they reflect the changing moods of the day.
